2011 Recap:
Brian Bursley and Ian Foos took first and second place (respectively) at the September 2011, CMP Cup air rifle match. Also, at that match, Brian earned his Bronze Distinguished Air Rifle badge, which is a pretty big accomplishment for one of our kids.
The youngsters are doing well, we have 17 youngsters officially registered for the program, and Matt plans to take all 17 to November's CMP Cup Match. We are also going to start shooting indoor smallbore with the older kids, we will start by shooting at the Ohio State University monthly Buckeye league match on November 20, 2011.
The summer of rifles has wrapped-up, with the kids putting on a good show and making us all proud. Now begins the winter of Indoor Air Rifles. The practices generally take place on Sunday evenings from 5-7pm (though there will be occasional Sundays that they will not meet and parents should call before showing-up for the first time). Get your youngster involved in this terrific program by calling Matt at 419-660-9076; he’ll tell you everything you need to know.
Junior Rifle has long been a source of great pride for the ECCL. These youngsters have competed in a very demanding program requiring concentration, skill, and perseverance beyond what is normally expected from people of this age.
The ECCL junior small-bore program begins in early June and ends in mid August. The program teaches basic gun safety and rifle marksmanship in the standing, sitting, kneeling, and prone positions. The program is taught using the Civilian Marksmanship Program Rimfire Sporter course of fire, and the juniors have several opportunities to compete in matches during the summer. The entire team travels to Camp Perry to compete in the National Rimfire Sporter match in late July.
ECCL junior programs are open to the public and parents are not required to be members of the ECCL to participate.
