300-Yard Match Results

The First match of the 2009 season
was well attended. 24 individuals shot a total
of 31 matches. We had a couple of new faces in
attendance and wish to welcome them back for future
matches. We couldn't have wished for more favorable
conditions as the temperature flirted in the mid
seventies, the skies were without clouds and the
winds were quite subdued for the event. I can
only hope for such pleasant conditions for our
next match in May.
Bob Burmeister and Bernie Bong took control in
my absence. Thanks a bunch guys for arriving early
and setting up the targets and boards prior to
the match. We have a great bunch of shooters who
regularly attend these precision shooting events
and pitch in to help with scoring, target duties,
and range operations. Without your help, these
matches wouldn't be so successful and enjoyable.
Thanks to all who volunteer their services!
After reviewing the scores, you will note that
the very elusive (200) "perfect score"
has yet to be fired. Bob Burmeister's smallest
group for the day was fired with a Savage production
rifle, but unfortunately, the group was not centered.
Better luck next time Bob!
Since the targets are located 300 yards from
the shooters, and the target centers are black,
shot holes are rarely visible when viewed through
scopes. This fact presents a unique challenge
to everyone on the line. If anyone has a desire
to test your marksmanship skills, please join
us at the May 16th match. Be sure to review the
