300-Yard Match Results

The day started out overcast
and windy, with intermittent rain showers, to
keep the event interesting. I was forced to retreat
under the truck's bed cover at times to keep my
paperwork from melting.
In spite of threatening weather conditions, 22
brave shooters challenged the tricky conditions.
As an example, one target face was torn loose
from the backer by a strong gust of wind. We all
learned what affect the changing air currents
had on the path of our well aimed bullets.
Kevin Casper was the only junior shooter and posted
a very respectable score on the difficult F-Class
target. Good job Kevin! John Klein treated all
of the shooters and bystanders to some pyrotechnics
on the third relay by shooting his Civil War era
trap door 45-70 black powder cartridge Springfield
musket. That was quite an experience listening
to the VOOOOOMMM of each shot followed by a huge
billowing cloud of white smoke.
And lastly, I'd like to thank all those who helped
out with safety and range operations. Without
your assistance, I'd be relegated to spectator
status only. I hope once the weather becomes more
favorable, many more of our members and guests
will bring out their closet-queens for some range
fun!
