300-Yard Match Results
October 13, 2007
The October 13th 300 yard match
was well attended with 23 entrants. The weather
was nearly ideal for this event. I say "nearly
ideal" because we did experience some twitchy
wind conditions which moved the bullets around
a bit on the targets. With the cooler weather
shots were printing lower than in previous matches,
so competitors needed to utilize their elevation
and windage adjustments to keep shots centered
on the targets.
If you enjoy a marksmanship challenge,
this game is a total fulfillment of your wish;
and it only costs $5.00! Unfortunately, this was
the last 300 yard event for the 2007 shooting
season. I will attempt to host more such events
in 2008. If anyone has constructive comments or
ideas for future matches, please don't hesitate
to discuss them with me! My intentions are to
provide challenging and educational shooting events
for ALL our members.

A special note must be added to
acknowledge the following: Kevin Casper was the
only junior shooter in the event and he posted
an extremely fine score of 197-5X shooting an
out of the box Savage hunting rifle chambered
in 223 Remington. GOOD JOB KEVIN! Following right
in your GRANDMOTHER'S footsteps. ATTA BOY KEVIN!
(forgive me Neil: the devil made me do that!)
Another point to note is the 188-7X
score shot by Jim O'Neil using an AR-15 service
rifle. His score would have been 10 points higher
if he kept all 10 record shots on his target.
Good shooting with open sights and a sling! Bernie
Was Top Dog In the F-Class category shooting another
out of the box Savage. Good job Bernie. Congratulations
to one and all who competed.
I'm sure all the shooters have gained
a lot of useful knowledge in fine riflery.
A special thanks to everyone who helped with registration,
scoring and pit operation.
Last but not least, a SPECIAL thanks
to Norma Minor for preparing a chili feast with
side dishes. Marie Casper provided a scrumptious
cake desert. Thanks to these wonderful individuals
for helping bring the 300 yard matches to such
a fitting conclusion for the 2007 shooting season.
I hope to see many new faces on
the "long range" line next year! Once
you try it, you'll be hooked!
Respectfully Submitted:
