ECCL Action Shooting

Drill MasterRobb and the boys are planning to build on the two-gun shoot they held at the end of last season, and this season the program will become “Action Shooting”, incorporating handguns and rifles; you can shoot either (at $4 for members, $7 for non) or both (at $7 for members and $10 for non).

The dates for 2008 are as follows:

  • April 12 (cancelled due to range conditions)
  • May 31
  • June 22
  • July 20
  • August 30
  • September 21
  • October 19
  • November 8

You should note that some of these dates fall on Sundays, so don’t just assume that it will be on a Saturday. Either day, the setup time will be 7:30 a.m., sign-up at 8:30 a.m. and instructions will be at 9 a.m. Both 25- and 50-yard ranges will be in use until approximately 2 p.m. Any questions, call Robb Parthemore for the scoop.

Last year's stats are here. Here is how I came up with these numbers. First off, participation is a must, coming and shooting one time does not make you our top shooter even if you are "Westcott" good. Therefore if you are a no-show or no-shoot in a certain category then you will see a "35" in that months section. If you see another number, then it is the number of rank you ended up in that month. Such as if Brian Westcott shot in semi auto category and came in 1st (surprise, surprise!) then he would have a "1" in his section for that month. If he came in 3rd (yeah, I wish!) then he would have a "3" in his section for that month. Get it? OK, then I added all of these numbers including the 35's up and ended up with a number, I placed all of these numbers in a ranking order and this is the list. If you shot well all year but missed a month, it can cost you. Categories are listed if there is more than one person shooting in that category.

We followed a different format for our pistol matches in 2007 that will allowed us a little more leeway in the scenarios we shot.

These matches are open to all shooters: men, women, and juniors. We encourage all to come out and try this sport. It doesn't require that you be a master handgun shooter, just have safe, competent gun handling skills with the will to try something new and you will do fine.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Eye and hearing protection that MUST be worn on the ranges.
  • A semiautomatic handgun or revolver in safe operating condition.
  • At least 50 rounds of suitable ammunition for their firearm.
  • At least three magazines for pistols and three speed loaders for revolvers.
  • A SAFE, strong side, belt holster capable of retaining the firearm and covering the trigger guard.
  • Ammunition carriers mounted to the belt.

Range Officers WILL DETERMINE APPROPRIATENESS AND SAFETY OF ALL GEAR.

(Schedules are always tentative and subject to change so please double-check the dates and times on our calendar.)
